Aldo Divirgilio

ALBANY
Aldo DiVirgilio passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully on July 24, Aldo fought a courageous battle with dementia which could never take away his dearest love of friends and family. Aldo was born in Orsogna, Italy in 1940 and emigrated to the US in 1955 with his beloved brother Anthony and mother Anna. Even in his very early years it was apparent to all Aldo's adventuresome spirit and desire to travel and explore. He served his country and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon discharge Aldo traveled the United States and the world and sampled all life had to offer. Aldo was a retired accomplished chef working for the Albany State University and various restaurants throughout his career. Near retirement, Aldo repaired his grandfather's home in Orsogna which was badly damaged during WWII. Aldo spent much time with the love of his life Beatrice Kobilca there and traveling in the US as well as enjoying time with his close friends and family. Aldo will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle spirit and generous, innocent and playful nature. Aldo was predeceased by his mother and father Luigi and Anna (Paolini) DiVirgilio as well as step-father Philip Raducci. Aldo leaves behind his dear friend Beatrice, brother Anthony (Angelina) for whom he was very close, nephews Louis (Cindy), Anthony (Deborah) and Aldo (Gemma), several grand nieces and nephews and many friends and cousins both in the USA and Italy. Special thanks to the loving care of Dr. Sun and her team who treated Aldo with dignity and comfort in his final weeks. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at NewComer - Colonie, July 27, 2022 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, July 28, 2022, 9:30 am at St Francis of Assisi located at 391 Delaware Ave., Albany, NY 12209 followed by interment at St. Agnes Cemetery located at 48 Cemetery Ave, Menands, NY 12204
