Aleighia Emily Barker

On the morning of Friday 9/29/2023, Aleighia Emily Barker passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her own bed at the age of 19 years old. This was an unexpected tragedy that tore through many people's lives.

Aleighia is the daughter and babygirl of William CT Barker and Lisa Barker. She is a sister to Marcus Ct Barker and a mother to 8 month old rottie, Ro'Lexx Barker. A granddaughter to Margret Lundstrom, the great granddaughter of the late reverend Elouse Fraiser and great granddaughter of Decan Robert Fraiser. She is the girlfriend of K-Shonn Maynor and a bestfriend and sister to Gabrielle Poulin. She is also the niece and nephew to Donta (Bee Bee) Barker and Wenona Barker.

Aleighia enjoyed and loved spending time with her mother who she considered to be the closest person to her. They have a beautiful relationship with great support towards one another that many wish they had with their own parent. Aleighia and her father also shared a close, loving relationship and they would bond over their joined love for motorcycles, trucks and football which the whole family has a passion for. They specifically root for the steelers and albany metro mallers. Since Aleighia and her brother are the only children of their parents, they shared a close relationship growing up together. They themselves and all those arond them would call them twins despite Marcus being three years older than her. Aleighia found her love for football and sports after having to attend all of her brothers sporting events. She was his biggest fan and his personal cheerleader. She spent a lot her time with her bestfriend, they hung out and saw eachother almost everyday. The relationship and love they have together is comparable to the bond of what some may call a soulmate or twinflame. More of her time was spent with her boyfriend, they were together for nearly 5 years and having been bestfriends before they started dating back in her first year of highschool. The love they share is beautiful, pure and a rare sight for todays day and age. A couple months ago Aleighia begged her mom to go down to hudson and adopt a brand new rottweiler puppy. She quickly assmed the role as his mother then trained and raised him. Her son brought so much joy and happiness into her life despite him being difficult at times. Rottweilers have been a big staple in her life having grown up with other rottweilers in in the past. Along with her son Ro'Lexx, her family also owns another rottie named Dy'Mond who she loved and cherished deeply.

Aleighia worked two jobs at Herbies Burgers and Power Surge Nutrition which is owned by her uncle Gabe Young. She was considered their best employee and the hardest worker. She did this all while being a full time student at Schenectady County Community College as a human services major. She was passionate in her schooling and one of her biggest goals was to graduate with her doctorates degree to help and save children who are in bad family situations and were victims of sex crimes. She wanted to give up a piece of her future happiness for others. Aleighia is a big music lover with her favorite genre being R&B music with a mix of rap and soul. Her all time favorite artist is Ella Mai, who she got to see in concert with her mother and bestfriend in boston over the summer. Although they are expensive habits, she enjoyed getting tattoos and buying Michael kors and coach bags. She was slowly but surely expanding her collections for all of those. One of her biggest hobbies was cooking and baking. She would make creations of food from scratch then have those in her family and close friends try everything.

Aleighia truly is one in a million. She touched so many peoples lives and brightened everyone's day with her loving, caring and goofy personality. She was not afraid to show her true self and never held back who she really was. She didn't care about what others thought about her, as long as she had those closest to her nothing else mattered. One thing many people note about aleighia is her gorgeous smile and contagious laugh. Even just seeing it in a photo or hearing her laugh in a video brings those around so much joy. Everyone who is a part of her life or was in the past, whether it be family or friends, considers themselves lucky to have had the chance to know her. We are lucky to have grown up alongside her, and we are lucky to have watched her blossom into the amazing young woman she grew to be. Aleighia will be deeply missed by everyone and we will carry the grief of her passing for as long as we may live. We will all continue to live on in her memory. All that we do will be to honor her and make her proud.
