Guilderland – Alejandra "Alex" Marriaga Cabrera, 44, passed away on March 1, 2014 due to complications from a brain aneurysm at Albany Medical Center. Born in Mexico City, Mexico she is the daughter of Nicolas Cabrera and Yolanda Quiroz.
Alejandra was born and raised in Mexico, and immigrated to the United States in 1993, to pursue the American Dream. She worked hard to learn English, and took night classes to achieve her goal. Alejandra was employed as an administrative assistant for C.S.E.A. for many years, where she worked hard to provide for her family and children. She achieved her American Dream when she and her husband Alberto purchased their first home, and she leaves a lasting legacy of hard work and dedication for her children to follow. Alejandra loved to cook for her family, help anyone in need, and was an advocate for the disadvantaged.
Alejandra is survived by her loving husband Alberto Marriaga Sr., and her children Alberto Jr. and Belen. She is also survived by step-children; Alian, Orlando, and Gladys, grandchildren; Alian, and Orlee, and her siblings; Gerardo, Mayela, and Maricel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Alejandra on Thursday March 6th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Madison Ave. Albany. Calling Hours will be Wednesday March 5th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd.
