Alejandro Sebastian Foppoli

June 14, 1999 — September 4, 2022

Alejandro Sebastian Foppoli, 23, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Alex was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to the United States at the age of 5. In part due to his Argentine heritage, Alex was passionate about all things soccer, from playing in recreational leagues to rooting on his beloved Argentina national soccer team. Alex was actively exploring youth coaching opportunities, looking to pass on his knowledge and passion to the next generation. Alex had a strange but amazing talent for taking almost any conversational topic and finding a comparison for it to an event in Argentine soccer history. He was enthusiastically awaiting the upcoming 2022 World Cup and the chance for Argentina to avenge its close loss in the 2014 World Cup finals.

Alex had a natural gift for politics and was the rare kind of person that you could debate political issues with for hours and still walk away with a hug. He moved to South Carolina and, on his own at the age of 22, initiated a campaign to unseat a three-term incumbent in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Alex engaged in door-to-door campaigning, took on his opponent in vigorous public debates, and gained the endorsements of several local and national political groups. While Alex's grassroots campaign ultimately came up short, he more than proved his political chops, tenacity and courage. Following his campaign, Alex received employment offers from political organizations, but first planned to finish his pursuit of a degree in political science before jumping back into the fray.

Alex loved all of his family and friends, but had a special place in his heart for his little brother, Max. Among many other things, the two of them loved playing soccer and video games together or just telling each other funny stories. We know that Max will continue to be guided by the wisdom and love Alex shared with him.

And no acknowledgment of Alex would be complete without reference to his mischievous sense of humor, sharp wit and ability to capture a room full of people from nearly the moment he learned how to speak.

Alex is survived by his mom and stepdad, Natalia (Hernandez Camargo) and Matthew LeMoyne; father, Julio Foppoli and stepmother, Jacqueline Landry; sister, Hannah; brother, Max; abuelas, Stella Camargo and Alicia Foppoli; grandma and grandpa, Craig and Debbie LeMoyne; aunts/uncles, Ivette (Hernandez Camargo) and Michael Keefe, Megan LeMoyne, Gloria Camargo, Nahuel Foppoli; and cousins, Darien, Alexandra and Bianca. All will miss him terribly. Alex was a bright, shining star and we will think of him whenever we look up at a brilliant nighttime sky.

Calling hours will be private.
