COLONIE, NY – Alexander Joseph Rinaldi, 84, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Rinaldi was born in Albany on May 20, 1923 and was the son of the late Vincenzo and Mary Rinaldi. He was educated in the Albany Public School District. Mr. Rinaldi proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 serving in North Africa and Italy. Upon leaving the Army, Alex worked for the Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local #7 for more than 35 years, and was a member for over 60 years. Alex was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the Pat Aiezza Post for more than 60 years. Alex was the loving husband of 55 years to Georgia Rinaldi. He is the devoted father of Vincent (Veronica) Rinaldi, Alexander (Jean) Rinaldi, Lisa (Dennis) Mink and David (Darlene) Rinaldi. He is the brother of Ambrose (Theresa) Rinaldi. "Pop" is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild who all loved him dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Albany Dialysis Center and the Albany Memorial Hospital nursing staff for their professionalism, compassion and kindness over these many years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Northeastern New York, 99 Troy Road, Suite 200, East Greenbush, NY 12061 in memory of Alexander J. Rinaldi.
