TROY – Alfred L. Jacques, 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at home, after a long illness. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Theodore Jacques and Alice Bisnett Jacques Ryan. Mr. Jacques was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a signalman for the D & H Railroad from where he retired. Alfred was a former Boy Scout leader and also volunteered with the Literacy Volunteer Association in Troy. He is the beloved husband of 58 years to Evelyn M. Jacques. He is the devoted father of Judith (James) Jacques-Facteau, Thomas (Patricia) Jacques and David Jacques, all of Cohoes and the late Henry Jacques. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Alfred L. Jacques.
