Cohoes- Alfred "Al" S. Murray, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 18, 2017, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. The son of the late Alfred S. and Lois T. (Gagnon) Murray, Sr., Al was born on July 1, 1950 in Cohoes. In 1969, Al was drafted into the US Marine Corps and served for two years during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the military, he married Bonnie Marble. He started his career as a warehouse foreman at RJ Fortin Warehouse in Latham. He worked there until his retirement in 1997.
Al was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved riding his motorcycle with his wife and going on cruises to the Caribbean. In his spare time, Al would fix computers. His biggest love was his family, he was a true family man.
Al is survived by his loving wife Bonnie of 45 years; his children: Richard (Jennifer) Murray, Melissa Murray, Tracey (Scott) Mayr and Shawn (Amber) Murray; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Linda Maurer, Thomas (Mary) Murray, Debbie (Billy) Fitzgerald, Maureen (Dave) Deeb, Bruce (Laurie) Murray, and Tammy (Eddie) Skawinski and many nieces, nephews, cousins (Gene Borden) and friends.
In addition to his parents, Al is predeceased by his infant brother Billy, his sister Donna LaMere and his beloved cat Teddy.
Al's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, January 23 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Burial will be private.
