ALBANY – Alice J. Gareau, 84, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born on December 2, 1920 in Rensselaer and was the daughter of the late Francis and Jennie Clemeshire Barney.
Alice was a housewife and worked part time in the Albany area for many years. She enjoyed going to Saratoga Race track, the NY Yankees and being surrounded by family and friends.
Alice is survived by her children, Lynn (Jack) Dunn of Colonie, Richard Gareau of Guilderland, Stephen (Annie) Gareau of Albany and Larry Gareau of Guilderland. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Alfred J. Gareau, her sister, Mary Murphy and her brother, Francis Barney, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church. Entombment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Alice J. Gareau.
