Alice Keane

1937 — 2025

Albany

Alice (Teresa) Keane, age 87, wife of the late Joseph (Pat) Keane, died peacefully on March 21, 2025, in her Albany home. Alice was born in Fermoy, County Cork, Republic of Ireland in 1937, the third of four daughters of William and Alice Griffin. Growing up in Tralee, County Kerry, as a young woman she emigrated to the US where she joined her sister and met her future husband. While she became a proud US citizen in 1970, she honored her Irish heritage for her entire life. Alice worked at the Tobin Packing Company in Albany. Upon its closure, she resumed her education, earning a nursing degree and dedicating her second career to the residents of Child’s Nursing Home.

She is survived by daughters, Margaret Keane and her husband Steven Locke and Kelly Keane and her partner Keith Kendall and 4 beloved grandchildren, Brendan, Kieran, Hannah and Emma Locke. She is also survived by her sister, Bridget (Billie) LaBrie and many nieces and nephews in the US, Ireland and England. In addition to her husband Pat, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Lent and Eileen Curran.

Alice will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of travel, her generosity and her uncanny ability to find the best bargains in shopping centers throughout the Capital District. She especially loved the holidays, extravagantly decorating her home, showering family members (and their pets) with gifts and welcoming family and friends to parties centered around a roaring fireplace with plenty of food and drink.

In accordance with Alice’s wishes, there are no services planned at this time. Memorial donations in Alice’s name may be made to: Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany NY 12206.
