Alice L. Edwards

ALBANY-Alice L. Edwards went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2014, after a long illness at the home of her son David and daughter in law Tanya; where she resided for the past 1 1/2 years. David and Tanya were her primary caregivers during this time. Born on April 6, 1923, in Bayshore, NY to parents Beatrice Smith and John Jackson, and raised by her stepfather, James (Tim) L. Jackson. She was the oldest of 14 siblings. She retired from NY State after 42 years, working as an Executive Assistant and Senior Stenographer for NYS Department of Commerce. She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Edwards, and her oldest son, Dennis Edwards. Left to cherish memories of her are her sons, David W. Edwards (Tanya) of Town of Manlius,NY and Douglas J. Edwards (Yolanda) of Summerville, SC. Sisters Mabel Copeland, of Bayshore,NY, Phyllis Patrick of Central Islip, NY, Sylvia Thomas (Clayton) of Patchougue, NY and June Foster of Ocala, FL. Sister in law Mary Jackson of GA. Brother in Law, Hon. Judge Dennis A. Edwards (Dorothy) of New York, NY. Eight grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 12:00-2:00pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY followed by a funeral service to be held at 3:00 pm at Cathedral of All Saints, 62 S. Swan Street, Albany, NY.
