ALBANY – Alice M. Van Kampen, 88, a former resident of the Bishop Broderick Apartments, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Gardenear) Bastain.
Alice is survived by her children, Garrett (Wilma) Van Kampen of Ohio, Robert Van Kampen of N. Carolina, Linda Tulis of Texas and Sharon (Thomas A.) Jones of N. Carolina; her sister, Elouise Hoffman of Niverville; her brother, Howard "Buddy" Bastain of Albany; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John C. Van Kampen, Sr.; her son, John C. Van Kampen, Jr.; her grandson, Aaron J. Brevoort; her sisters, Elizabeth Nugent and Helen Caron and her brothers, Joseph, John and Henry Bastain.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
