Alice Mahan

Alice Brooks Capuano Mahan, 76, formerly of Latham, NY, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in Westbrook Maine after a long illness.

Born in Saranac, NY, she was the daughter of Clement and Elizabeth Brooks. She resided in Troy, NY where she attended Catholic Central High School. She later moved to Latham, NY where she raised her family. Mrs. Mahan was employed by the State Bank of Albany/Fleet Bank until her retirement to Sunset Beach, NC.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Terry) Capuano, Oneonta, NY; daughter, Cheryl (Wayne) Brott of Troy, and is predeceased by her daughter Gail Fisher. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Justin Brott, Katie (Dustin) Giardino, Julia (Joel) Meyri, McKenzie Brott, Kristi (Matthew) Gibson, Jenna Capuano, Shannon Fisher and three great grandchildren. She is survived by a sister Lea (James) Cramer of Troy, NY and a brother, Harold (Dee) Brooks of Ballston Lake, NY and sister-in-law Mary (Leo) Pontore of Halfmoon. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and was especially loved by the Mahan Family.

Alice's pastimes included volunteering, sewing, and reading, but her passion was spending time with her family. Throughout her life she exemplified the qualities of kindness, generosity, and love and these endearing qualities have truly touched all that knew her.

Her family wishes express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Fazeli, Falmouth by the Sea and The Springbrook Nursing Care Center for their loving care during her illness.



Relatives and friends may call at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie on Sunday from to 4 to 6 pm. A service of remembrance will be offered at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.



In lieu of flowers, and the request of the family, contributions in memory of Alice can be made to The Troy Public Library, 100 Second Street, Troy, NY 12180 to purchase books for the children's room.
