DELMAR – Alice R. Arcello, 85, died at home on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Alice was born in Albany and was the last surviving child of John and Isabella Sim. She was predeceased by brothers, John, Jimmy, Ralph, Eddy, Harry and Frankie Sim and her sisters, Marian Gardner, Florence Kot, Dorothy Bogdanowicz and infant sister Mary Sim. Alice was the widow of Tony Kosliski and Ray Polk. She is survived by her husband, Carm Arcello; her daughter, Tina Malachowski; her son-in-law, Mike Malachowski; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was grandma to Teddy, Hannah, Buster and Bayley.
In addition to being a homemaker, Alice enjoyed life and particularly looked forward to playing bingo each Saturday night at the VFW Post, taking her regular spot near the door where she would greet and socialize with her friends for hours. In her later years, Alice moved to Delmar where she surrounded her home with beautiful plants and flowers and loved feeding the birds and other critters who visited her backyard on a daily basis. Alice enjoyed day trips with her family, singing and dancing to her favorite songs along the way.
In keeping with her wishes, Alice spent her last days at home under the constant care of her husband and daughter, one of whom was always at her side. The family would like to thank her homecare nurse Pam, as well as Bonnie, Tiara, Joel, Diana and the numerous staff of Community Hospice of Albany whose assistance also made Alice's wish to be at home possible. With Alice's passing, eleven brothers and sisters are together once again. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and never forgotten.
Funeral arrangements are through New Comer Cannon Funeral Home and in keeping with the wishes of the family, services will be private. Interment will be held in Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
