Alicia Thompson Yancey

April 16, 1958 — September 17, 2021

Alicia Thomson Yancey was born April 16, 1958 and was raised with her two parents in Saratoga Springs, New York.

After graduating from High School, Alicia moved to Long Island for 5 years and worked as a Health Care Aide at a psychiatric Institute in Suffolk County. She then moved to Albany, New York, and attended Schenectady County Community College. She later got married and had one child.

Alicia also worked at NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (Formerly OMRDD) as a Health Care Specialist, Saint Peters Hospital as a Phlebotomist and finished her career as a CTDA Bus Driver for17 years. She retired in 2014. Alicia also dedicated years of service as a HOME CARE PROVIDER for mentally ill persons with developmental disabilities.

Alicia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a wonderful host and always cherished having friends and family to her home for great food and good company. Alicia was always eager to visit new places and enjoyed many trips throughout her lifetime. Her most recent adventure was moving out to Cincinnati, Ohio with her daughter and five grandchildren.

Alicia was a former member of Metropolitan New Testament Mission Baptist Church where she served a member of the choir ministry for 4 years. She also volunteered and served many years on the board of the Malta Ridge Cemetery.

Alicia is survived by her daughter, Lealyn Williams and her five children, her sister Marlena Thompson Alford and Jack Alford, and their daughter, Elena Thompson, her sister-in-law Sarah Stewart, son-in-law, Richard WIlliams, first cousins Vicki Jones Whitties, Culbert Jones, Butch Jones III, extended family John White, Arleen Johnson and Chrystie Johnson Lynch and a host of other family friends.

A home going celebration will be held on October 9, 2021 at 11:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.

Burial will be held at Malta Ridge Cemetery at 10am prior to services.
