Schenectady — Allan Provost, 67, passed away at Ellis Hospital with his loving wife by his side, on Monday, January 4, 2021. He was the son of the late Leon and Sadie (Tubelli) Provost.
Al was a lifelong resident of Schenectady. He worked at the University at Albany, SUNYA, retiring in 2008, after many years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist. In his spare time, Al and his wife loved to ride their Harley's together, and with friends. Cooking and creating meals for his family and friends and experimenting with food was his passion. Brewing beer and making wine was another area of his expertise. Reading was an enjoyable pastime for Al, and his quest for knowledge was substantial. He took a special interest in the works of Hunter S. Thompson and Edgar Allan Poe, History, and Botany. Al also delighted in the arts and music. For many years, Al looked forward to camping at "The Ridge" with friends during the summer months. Traveling to, and visiting friends in Buffalo, NY, was also a special highlight.
Al supported a variety of animal rights and rescue groups, public television and radio, and the DAV.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, 37 years altogether, Janet Anderson Provost; daughter, Valerie Provost Cummings (Adam); grandchildren, Henry and Andrew; sister, Donna Provost-White (Keith); nephews, Robert Newell III (Amanda Pratt), Rory White; brothers-in-law, James Anderson and Jeffrey Veno Anderson; his beloved cat Belle; and many other cousins and friends.
