Allen G. Roeser, 97, passed away peacefully Friday, November 18, 2022 at Loudonville Assisted Living Residence.
Allen was born on March 1, 1925 in Williamsville, NY to the late George and Clara (Golz) Roeser.
He graduated from Williamsville High School in 1942 at the age of 17 and attended Bryant and Stratton Business College for a year until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the 63rd Infantry Division in France and Germany during WWII. Upon his return home, Allen continued his education and married Joan Ganschow Roeser in 1953. Together they raised a family of 5 children: Kathy, Dwight, Judy, Bruce and Sue. In 1962, the family moved from Cheektowaga to Albany, where Allen worked in the finance department for several private companies over the years until his retirement in 1987. Allen and Joan enjoyed 54 years together and traveled throughout the United States during retirement until Joan's passing in 2008.
Allen was a kind man of strong faith and dedicated to his family. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Albany for over 60 years, volunteered at the Northeast Regional Food Bank for 20 years, and was active in The Latham Circle Squares Square Dance Club. As a recipient of the Capital District Senior Issues Forum 2010 Senior Lifetime Achievement Award, Allen represented the very best of The Greatest Generation. His primary focus was his family, which brought him the most joy, including wonderful memories of many family camping trips. He was an incredible role model to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly.
Allen was predeceased by his devoted wife Joan, his parents George and Clara, and his brother Lloyd Roeser.
