ROTTERDAM JUNCTION – Allene M. Low, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Center in St. Johnsville. She was born in Schenectady on September 24, 1932, a daughter of the late, Allen J. and Helen (Durr) Heaney.
Allene married Herbert Low at St. Joseph's Church in Scotia in 1950. She was employed with the New York State Attorney General's Office in Albany until her retirement.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Allene was a longtime member of the Secular Order of the Discalced Carmelites through Our Lady of Mercy in Schenectady. She adopted the self-professed name of Sister Mary Immaculate of the Holy Infant.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1990 and her son, Paul in 2021.
Surviving in loving memory are her daughter, Rose Marie (Walter) Ashline; her grandsons, Timothy Steele and Clinton Ashline; her great grandchildren, Timothy, Gabriella, Nicholas and Vincent.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. The Secular Order of the Carmelites will be offering prayers of the Office of the Dead at 3:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Saint Margaret of Cortona Mission, 1228 Main St, Rotterdam Junction, NY. Interment will be held in the Spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Allene's memory may be made to your favorite church or the SPCA.
