ALBANY – Alma Carter, 81, on Saturday January 20, 2007 at 2 a.m. at St. Peter's Hospital, Alma was called home to be with the Lord.
Alma was born on October 18, 1925 to Patterson and Isabelle Hankins in Pittsburgh, PA. As a child, she moved to Ravena where she attended public schools and graduated from Coeymans High School. After high school, she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Campion for 15 years. In 1973 she became a nurse's aide for the Veterans Hospital in Albany until 1987 when she retired.
Alma is survived by one son, Norman P. Carter, Sr. of Albany; three grandsons, Norman (Jacqueline) Carter, Jr., Rodney Carter and Andre Carter; one brother-in-law, Clarence Carter; six great grandsons, Rahmel, Iquan, Ahmel, Ahziarh, Rayquan and Nasir Carter; one great-great-granddaughter, Raniya Carter; one niece, Trinia Carter all of Albany; longtime dear friend, Margaret D. Saneifer and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Patterson and Isabelle Hankins; her husband, Norman Carter and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church, 1613 River Road, Coeymans. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment Memory's Garden, Colonie. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.newcomerfamily.com
