Alphonso P. Pointer

ALBANY - Alphonso "Al" P. Pointer, 73, departed suddenly on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. He was born on September 9, 1935 in Durham, NC and was the son of the late Addie Pointer and was the husband of the late Mary Pointer. He served in the US Air Force from 1959 to 1961. He worked at Lunden Steel and Abhor Hill Community Center.
He leaves to cherish four daughters, Mechelle and Jenelle Pointer, Renee Heggins and Carla Mallory; stepson, Douglas Wallace and beloved friend Bessie Hasty. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Metropolitan NTM Baptist Church, 105 Second St., Albany. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
