Alyce Dean Tunstall

Albany- Alyce Dean Tunstall, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 6, 2023. Born in Henderson, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Blanche and Robert Lee Tunstall.

Alyce was educated in the Albany Schools.

Alyce worked for Albany County for over 30 years, starting her career as Correctional Officer in the early 70's at the Albany County Jail and retiring from Family Children Service as a security guard.

She had a love for music, dancing, and spending time with family. Her spare time was spent going to the casinos, traveling, completing word search puzzles, and watching Family Feud.

Alyce is survived by her five children. She was a loving Mom to Anthony Tunstall, Amanda Tunstall, Pamela Allen-Tunstall, Felicya Tunstall, and Eric Tunstall. She was Grandma and "Granna Dean" to Toni Tunstall Dowers, Kyle Tunstall, Tanganyika Tunstall, Antonia Tunstall, Jadon Tunstall, Tarique Tunstall, Yovela Allen, Ronnia Cherry, Raquesha Edmond, Lavaya Tunstall, Ericka Tunstall, and Emir Tunstall. She was Great Grandmother to eleven, Godmother aka (mommy) to Mekia Thomas and beloved friend to Samuel Molloy, Hattie Winbush, Sherry Ingram, and Rita Matthews.

A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 10:30am -11:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will begin at 11:30am following with burial at Graceland Cemetery.
