ROTTERDAM – Amalia Sowers, 76, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Naples, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Ciro Cacciuolo and Assunta Piterra.
Lia enjoyed dancing, music, watching TV and reading. She loved cooking and good food. Lia was also interested in learning other languages.
Lia was predeceased by her husband, George W. Sowers.
She will be missed by her son Luigi Ferraro; cousin Maria Rosaria and lifelong friends Adolph Manzella, Maria Luisa Attisani, and Alfredo Aletta.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
