LOUDONVILLE – Amelio Vitale, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Amelio was born in Salerno, Italy and was the son of the late Giovanni and Louisa (Guarino) Vitale. He worked for the Italian government in law enforcement for several years before immigrating to America in 1959. He was the proprietor and tailor of Central Tailoring in Colonie for many years. He enjoyed making wine, watching soccer and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. He also enjoyed spending time with his fraternal brothers at the WAIBS, playing bocce and cards.
Amelio is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Maria (Diana) Vitale; his devoted son and daughter-in-law, John and Marina Vitale; his cherished granddaughter, Gabriella Vitale; and his brother-in-law, Primo (Emma) Diana. He is the beloved uncle of Frank "Cicci" Diana, Rosemary Diana, Michael Diana, Sergio (Beth) Diana, and Stephen Diana and great uncle of Matthew Diana.

Funeral Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. from New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, then to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
