LATHAM - Amy E. King, 87, quietly answered her Savior's call on February 18, 2014, while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Colon, Panama, to the late Samuel Dandy and Concella Morgan, Amy has resided in the Capital District since 1992. An active member of The Black Catholic Apostolate, she was a cheerful, outgoing person who enjoyed singing, dancing, sewing, traveling, playing bingo and dominoes.
Amy was predeceased by her husband, Clarence G. King, their son Carlos King, and grandson Alexis Ortiz.
She leaves behind ten children: Robert (Jacqueline) King; Jacqueline E. King; Earl (Elvia) King; George King, Esq.; Clarence (Celia) King; Rev. Dennis (Ligia) King; Raymond (Monica) King; Elena King; Angela (Lindon) James; Pamela (William) Gordon; 36 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, fellow residents at Our Lady of Hope Residence, a special son, Father Kofi Amissah, and her fellow parishioners of St. Joan of Arc/The Black Catholic Apostolate.
Calling hours Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church/The Black Catholic Apostolate, 76 Menand Road, Menands; and 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, followed by interment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to the Black Catholic Apostolate.
