Amy Lynn Kidder, 52, of 211 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY, beloved daughter of Dr. Steven and Virelle Kidder, and beloved sister of Lauren Elizabeth McGarry, David Steven Kidder, and Robert Edward Tonkin Kidder, died peacefully October 29 in her sleep and was lovingly carried to her eternal home. Born July 29, 1971 in Baltimore, Maryland, Amy is also survived by her brother-in-law, Michael McGarrry, two sisters in-law, Johanna Zeilstra and Catherine Kidder, and eleven nieces and nephews, plus two great nephews and many aunts and uncles.
After living two years in Lexington, Mass, most of Amy's growing up was spent in Guilderland, New York, where she graduated from Guilderland High School, also attending Maria College in Albany, New York. She was excellent in sports such as soccer, girls' lacrosse, and ice skating. She loved attending Loudonville Community Church with her family, especially enjoying Senior High Youth Group, where she won the award for "Faithfulness."
Amy's remarkable and resiliently happy life was centered in her love for Jesus Christ and her family and friends. She was faithful beyond measure in love, in prayer, in cheerfulness, and loving concern gifted to others. Her favorite saying every morning was, "Happiness is a choice!"
Everyone who knew Amy found inspiration in her joy, faith and fortitude, determination in the face of difficulty, and tenderness toward others who suffered. She became the prayer captain of the family and led many to Christ throughout her life. Amy loved everyone profoundly, especially animals and children, enjoying word games and coloring. She loved singing, particularly in the school and community choirs, and was known for singing worship songs in her heart throughout her day. Amy especially loved to laugh. Her spontaneous outbursts of humor will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
A private service to celebrate Amy's life will be held in July 2024 on Lake George. Her ashes will be buried next to many members of the Kidder Family at Sunset Hill Cemetery overlooking Chautauqua Lake in Jamestown, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to her beloved friends of Jones House at 211 Seward Pl Schenectady, NY 12305.
