TROY - Andrea (Valcek) Mallin, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital, with her daughter, Daria and son-in-law, Gregory at her side.
Andrea was born in Albany on March 10, 1953 and was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Margaret C. (DeShaw) Valcek. She attended Maplewood School and was a graduate of Cohoes High School. She received her Bachelor's degree from U Albany where she studied geology and geography. She worked for the Albany Diocese, Bagdon Environmental, the City of Troy Planning Dept., and Envision Architects.
She enjoyed beading, reading, time with friends, and caring for her furry friends. Andrea founded the Soup Kitchen and Peer Support Group at the Watervliet First Avenue Methodist Church with her loving brother, David, Rev. Bob Peters and other church friends.
Andrea is survived by her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Daria Mallin and Gregory Myers of Albany. Also surviving are her lifelong friends, Christine, Phyllis, Judy, and Pat. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved brother, David Valcek, who passed in 2021.
A memorial service will be held on Friday March 8, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. Calling hours will precede the service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital Region CANstruction in memory of Andrea Mallin, supporting The Food Pantries, c/o Capital Region CANstruction, 257 Ushers Road., Clifton Park, NY
