Andrew G. Flynn, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at home with his loving family by his side.
Andy was the son of the late Francis and Nelda (Poliquin) Flynn.
He graduated from Lansingburgh High School and then attended Tri-State College in Indiana.
Afterwards, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Streever) Flynn. They were married for 65 years.
Andy proudly served with the United States Army Reserves from 1953 to 1961.
He retired after 37 years of service from Saint-Gobain (formerly Norton Company), as a Process Engineer.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Troy where he served as an usher in his later years.
Andy's greatest joy was spending time with his family and loved attending family events.
He was very handy and enjoyed doing home projects for all his family members.
Andy was funny, kind, and selfless, and touched the lives of many people. He will most be remembered for his smile and good sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Theresa Schwarzer and his niece Cindy Buznego.
Andy is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his children, Deborah (Gary) Sorvari, Mark (Connie) Flynn, Andrew (Kelly) Flynn and Matthew Flynn. He was the cherished grandfather of Tara (Dan) Doherty, Christopher (Carrie-Lynne) Sorvari, Cassie Flynn (Mark McKenna), Kyle Flynn (Lawren Masters), Vivian Flynn, Jack Flynn (Ripley Newburgh), and one great grandchild, Oscar Flynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine's Church,
25 115th St, Troy, NY 12182. Interment will follow the Mass at St. John's Cemetery, 250 Cemetery Rd, Troy, NY 12180. All are invited.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Benton and the entire staff of Capital Cardiology Associates for all their care and compassion given to Andy over the years.
The family would also like to thank Danielle Williamson and Sharkairh Dickerson for their excellent care and dedication to Andy during his final months.
