ALBANY- Andrew Manzi, 84, entered into eternal life on Monday, September 1, 2014. He was born on September 29, 1929 in Albany, NY, second son of the late Joseph and Yolanda (Marmalaro) Manzi. Andrew married Ruth Fairbairn on August 3, 1958, recently celebrating 56 married years. A devoted family man and cherished friend, Andrew was a humble servant in every sense. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Andrew joined the Laborers Union Local 190 in 1956, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Guilderland Elks Lodge 2480 and was recognized as Elk of the Year in 1998 and received the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award in 2006 and 2010. Andrew was a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post 1520. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Ruth; son, Andrew. Survivors include children, Teresa and Christopher (Colleen); grandchildren, Andrew, Elena, Alysia, Arieana, Cody, and Keenan; siblings, Louis, Anthony (Phyllis), and Frank (Maureen); sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fairbairn, Melba (Peter) Tacy, Carol (Robert) Young; brother-in-law Lorne Fairbairn; and many, many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 9 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, NY. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Albany. Special thanks to the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital for their compassionate care of Andy in his final days.
