Albany-
Andrew W. Novak, 85, of Albany, passed away peacefully February 11, after a short stay at Daughters of Sarah due to a rare form of Parkinson's.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Lucille (Cerone) Nowak.
Andrew proudly served in the Marines. Up until retirement, he worked for The NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services. He loved supporting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was an avid reader, especially enjoying Civil War and WWII books. Andrew was also an artist who enjoyed watercolors and photography. He absolutely loved his cats.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Helen, sister in law Irma (Randall) Rapp-Cross, niece Theresa (Howard) Silverman, nephew Scott Rapp, grandnephews Justin and Eric Silverman and Dominic Rapp, sister Lori (Stan) Grace and their daughter, cousin David (Mary) Nowak, as well as several other cousins and friends, especially Lewis and Marsha Seavey.
The family would like to thank the staffs at AMC, as well as the nurses, aides and administrative staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center for their care.
Visitation will be held Thursday February 18, 2021, from 5:00 pm -7:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021, 10:30 am at the Blessed Sacrament Central Avenue, Albany.
Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
