Colonie – Andrew M. Sherman, 23, passed away unexpectedly Monday September 1, 2008 at his home in Colonie.
Andrew was born in Albany and was a lifelong area resident. He is a 2004 graduate of Notre Dame Bishop-Gibbons High School, he earned an associates degree from Hudson Valley Community College and also attended Hartwick College for two years. Andrew was the Assistant Manager of his family's News Stand while putting himself through college and more recently he was a Merchandiser with Pepsi Cola working out of the Colonie office. Andrew was an avid sports fan, especially a NY Mets fan, who enjoyed fishing and music of all kinds. He was very passionate about music and was a self-taught heavy metal guitarist.
Andrew is survived by his parents; Raebeth (Chuck) Powers and Mark (Caroline) Sherman, his grandparents; Leonard Peckham and Sandra Peckham, Edwin & Evelyn Sherman, his step-grandmother Theresa Carter, his great-grandparents; Beulah Oatman and Richard Bump, his aunts and uncles; Cassandra Peckham, Dan Peckham, Manuel Mabee, Richard Sherman, Robert Sherman, Steven Sherman, Joe Carter, Jr., and Evelyn and Dirk Doucette. He is predeceased by his uncle Leonard Peckham.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 8:15am from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to St. Paul the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
