Andrew S. Wagner, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021 with his loving family close by. Andrew (Andy) was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Wagner. Andy was the devoted husband of the late Alice H. Wagner. They were married 65 years.
Andy served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged on October 5, 1952. He drove a truck for Corenco Corporation from 1964 until his retirement. Andy was an alumni (class of 1951) of Vincentian Institute (VI). He was a devoted Catholic his whole life. Andy had a truly servitude spirit in life and was always about doing things for others and volunteering at church. To Andy, family and church were everything; he loved raising one son and five daughters and enjoying time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone will remember his jokes and his sense of humor.
Andy enjoyed being on a bowling league and watching football. He was very athletic growing up and won trophies for football, baseball, and track. Andy was a star football player.
Andrew is survived by his children, Gerard (Rose) Wagner, Maureen Brown, Sheila (Michael) Pizzitola, Alisa (Christopher) Barror, Amy (Jason) Mantor; his 23 grandchildren; his 20 great grandchildren; his sister, Katherine Bunk; many special nieces and nephews; and many loving relatives and life long friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Andy is predeceased by his daughters, Rebecca Pierce and Theresa Wagner; and his brother, Joseph Wagner.
Calling hours will be celebrated on Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Americas, 273 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
