Andrew E. Zalatan

Andrew "Andy" Edward Zalatan, 57, of Schenectady passed away in his home on Sunday, September 17th 2023.

Born October 4th, 1965 in Utica NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Barbara Zalatan.

Andy attended TR Proctor High School in Utica followed by Herkimer County Community College where he received his Associate degree. Andrew worked at RSS before his passing. He also previously worked at Upstate Cerebral Palsy in Utica for several years. Andrew was known by friends and family to be a hardworking, but gentle spirit who loved shopping, movies, and animals. He was known to be a collector of animal statues and stuffed animals and his happiest times were spent with family. He was a caregiver to those he loved as well as in his career. He resided in Utica where he took care of his parents until they passed and eventually moved to Schenectady NY. He had a fierce love for his friends and family and was known to be very fun-loving and kind to all.

Andrew is survived by his sisters Kathy Whittemore and Sue Marcoccia, their spouses Mark Whittemore and Mark Marcoccia; his nieces and nephews; Theresa Doucet and her husband Andrew, Nicholas Whittemore, and Marc, Matthew and Maria Marcoccia. He is also survived by three grandnieces, Madeline and Elliana Doucet and Annamarie Marcoccia, his aunt Minnie and many, many cousins.

The family would like to thank their friends and extended family who have provided comfort during this very difficult time, as well as Newcomer Funeral home and Saint Gabriel the Archangel Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10:00am in Saint Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg St, Schenectady, NY 12303. Burial services for the family will be held the following day at Calvary Cemetery in Utica.
