LOUDONVILLE-Andrus S. "Bucky" LaValley, 75, of Loudonville passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Mineville, NY on January 11, 1938 and was the son of the late Eli and Rosina LaValley. Bucky graduated from Watervliet High School Class of 1955 and served in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed by Nashua Corporation for 33 years as a supervisor in the Tape division.
He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, playing the horses and loved all sports. Bucky was a happy go lucky guy who believed you were only as good as your word. He loved teasing his sisters and his sisters were a good influence and kept him in line to become the person he was.
His heroic efforts on March 20, 1977 saved the lives of four children from their burning home in Halfmoon, NY. He will always be known as a hero to his loving family.
Bucky is survived by his children's mother Barbara Suhalla, by his son Douglas (Linda), by his daughters Gina Berthiuame and Tammy (Jeff), by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his three sisters Clara Rabideau, Ann (Richard) Kinney and Deborah Waddell (Michael Brockway) and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bucky was predeceased by his sisters Theresa LaValley, Rita LaValley, Doris White, and Mildred Bodah and by his brother Maurice LaValley.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 Pm on Monday, March 18, 2013 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Central Ave. Albany.
Interment will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Bucky.
