Ann Harriet Halpin, 81, of Glenmont, NY passed away peacefully on May 17th, 2020 in Albany, NY after complications from a long illness.
Born on February 18, 1939 in Altoona, PA she was the daughter of the late James and Eleanor Wilson. She spent her childhood growing up in Loudonville, NY
Ann was an avid photographer at a young age and we still have her Rolodex. She lived in the Helderberg mountains for many years, and spent many summers picking wild blueberries and canning them.
She ran "Ann's Driving School", the first woman owned driving school in the Capitol District. She loved teaching people to drive. Later in life in the 1970's, she became a pioneer in the trucking industry as one of the first women to own and operate her own trucking company. Resuming her love of driver education, she then gravitated to teaching student drivers to obtain their commercial driver's license. She retired from trucking when her health started to fail, but would have probably still been rolling up and down the highway if she could.
She was feisty, stubborn, and had quite a bit of grit. We will miss her deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husbands, Ulrich Fellehner and, Robert Halpin, and granddaughter Mary Ellen LaFleur-McGonigle.
She is survived by children Steven LaFleur ( Karen Gregorek ) and Christina Fellehner ( Thomas Endres), two grandchildren, Alec LaFleur and Sara Fellehner-Endres as well as five great grandchildren, Cassandra and Mackenzie McGonigle, and Addison, Noah and Ethan LaFleur.
Burial will be private, a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to be included please state so in the guestbook so we may notify you. There will only be a private ceremony by invite due to current circumstances.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting contributions toward her cemetery marker.
