COLONIE – Ann M. Lamanna, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, her 95th birthday.
She was born in Mitchell, Nebraska and lived as a child on the family ranch in Lusk, Wyoming. Ann moved to Walla Walla, WA and graduated from WA High School and later attended Business School. She proudly served her country in the US Navy from 1944 through 1946.
Ann was married in 1948 to Charles A. Lamanna. They traveled around the world during his Air Force career. They were blessed with four children, whom she cared for dearly. In 1963, they moved to Colonie and Ann began to work for New York State Dept of Education, retiring in 1981. Ann's primary interest was always her family. She enjoyed golf, dancing, horse racing and family affairs.
Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Charles A. Lamanna. She is the devoted mother of Michael (Cathy) Lamanna, David (Lyn) Lamanna, Jeanne (Joe) Bartlett and William (Patty) Lamanna. She is the sister of Verna Stone. Ann is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Canon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to Christ Our Light Catholic Church at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
