GUILDERLAND – Ann M. O'Donnell, 86, died peacefully on April 26, 2009, surrounded by her family at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Born in Yonkers, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary (DiPierro) Gisotti. She resided in Albany for five years and relocated to Guilderland where she spent the remaining years of her life. Ann was a graduate of Albany High School and attended Albany Business College. During World War II, she worked at the Watervliet Arsenal supporting the war effort. For many years, Ann was a seamstress in her own business sewing slip covers and draperies. She also worked for the New York State Dept. Taxation & Finance. Ann was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Guilderland and a member of the Guilderland Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader who loved books and also enjoyed cooking. Ann loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Edward P. O'Donnell and their children, Christina O'Donnell of Clifton Park, John O'Donnell of Guilderland and Edward O'Donnell of White Plains. Also surviving is a sister, Teresa Bent, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Leonard and Nicholas Gisotti. The family expresses grateful appreciation to her devoted caregivers at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. A very special heartfelt thanks to her husband, Edward, who was committed and devoted to her during her remaining months, looking after her and tending to her needs in a gracious manner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). The parish family of Christ the King will gather on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
