HAMMONDSPORT, NY----Ann Marie Riley Krug, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024 in Albany on her 93rd birthday. The daughter of the late William & Emily Riley of Watervliet, NY, Ann graduated from Catholic Central High Class of 1948 in Troy, NY and received her bachelor's degree from Albany Teachers College (University at Albany).
Ann taught sixth grade at Hammondsport Central School District for 36 years. She loved teaching sixth graders. Ann was an avid reader, crossword enthusiast, active in Girl Scouts, the Catholic church, and as a volunteer at the Glenn Curtiss Museum. Ann enjoyed lifelong friendships with the "card club" ladies. After retirement Ann spent many winters in Florida and summers in Hammondsport before deciding in her 80's she was done with lawn mowing and moved to Albany to be closer to family. Ann enjoyed a wonderful active life whether gardening, skiing in her 70's or finishing the Freihofer's Run for her 82nd birthday.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her sister Joan (Ed) Sharpe, brother-in-law Donald Krug and sister-in-law Ruth (Walt) Painter.
She is survived by her sister Emily (Richard) Rench and children, Richard (Amparo) Krug, Kathryn (Robert) Goodman, Susan (Denis) Livsey, and grandchildren Andrew (Wendy) Krug, Brian (Samantha Spera) Goodman, Lauren Krug, Sheila (Neal) Elli, and great-grandson Westley. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Phyllis Krug and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on April 13, 2024, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 78 Shether Street, Hammondsport, NY at 1:30 PM.
