Ann Marie Petersen, 88, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation with her loving family by her side. Born in St. Louis, MO on July 15, 1931, Ann was the daughter of the late Knud and Florence (Lore) Petersen.

Ann was raised in Malverne Long Island where she graduated from Malverne High School, class of 1949. She lived most of her adult life in the Capital Region.

Ann was employed with General Electric for over 20 years where she retired from. She was an avid reader and painter and was known to have shown her art work in the Clifton Park Senior Center. She was an active member of the ASPCA and enjoyed knitting.

Survivors include her children Robert Sutphen, Susan Vogt, Timothy (Nancy) Sutphen and Matthew (Mary) Sutphen; as well as her 12 grandchildren,10 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, and sister-in-law Patricia Petersen. Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her brother Brock Petersen.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering and may call from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday November 24, 2019 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd (Route 2) Watervliet.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local ASPCA shelter in memory of Ann Marie Petersen.
