Colonie- Anna C. Franze, 94, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on February 12, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Anna was born on September 14, 1922 in Airola, Italy and was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmela (Falzerano) DeMasi. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Vincent J. Franze, her son Joseph and her two brothers, Frank and John De Masi. and her great-grandson Edward Brabender, IV. For many years, Anna worked for the South Colonie School District. She later worked for the New York State Department of Tax and Finance until her retirement in 1994. Anna was a communicant of Christ our Light Catholic Church, formerly Our Lady of Mercy Church. For several years, she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fuller Road Fire Department. Her greatest joy in life was her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved butterflies and doing the daily jumble, she also enjoyed going to OTB.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas (Anna) Franze of California, John (Janet) of Louisiana and Patsy (Georgette) and their sons Matthew (Sugar Plum) and Nicholas (Sweetie Pie) whom she loved dearly of Colonie, NY; her loving grandchildren: Martin (Babette) Franze and Lucas (Amber) Franze of Colorado, Bree (Harold) Greisbrech of Idaho, Tracy (Edward) Brabender of Delmar and Jade (James V) Skelly of Louisiana; her great-grandchildren: Ashton, Abigail, James VI, Paige, Jaden, Addilyn, Nina Kathryn, and Ethan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Peter's Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am. She will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
