COLONIE, NY – Anna I. "Mickey" Levanites, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James and Cecilia Lamb. Mickey loved all children. She was a foster parent for Catholic Charities from 1967 through 2009 taking care of over 150 children. She always cherished spending time with her family and caring for all of them. Mickey was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Frank J. Levanites who predeceased her in 2005. She is the devoted mother of James (Ellen) Levanites of Latham, David (Marylynne) Levanites of Saratoga and Robert (Carol) Levanites of Colonie. Mickey is the loving sister of Alice Rembach, Pat Samascott, Agnes VanBlarcum and the late Kate Falkowski. She is the cherished grandmother of Mark (Rachael) Levanites, Matthew Levanites, Laura (Nick) Gingeresky, Kristine (Kevin) Levanites, Michael Levanites and Christopher Burgess. Mickey has three adored great-grandchildren, Eva Levanites, Aiden and Madison McFarland and both a great-granddaughter and great-grandson on the way. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Entombment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Maternity Services, 27 North Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Anna I. Levanites.
