ALTAMONT- Anna L. Cox, 79, died peacefully on December 28, 2015 at home with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Ann was born on March 3, 1936 in Troy, NY, to the late Joseph A. and Stella Eates. Ann graduated from Catholic Central High School class of 1956. In August 1959 she married the late Robert F. Cox of Troy, NY.
Ann worked for New York Telephone in Albany for many years as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1991. Ann was a member of many groups and organizations including; Seniors Bocce League at IBS, Charter member of BPW of Clifton Park, a former member of the Order of the Elks in Troy, NY, Telephone Pioneers of America, Uncle Sam's Sparklers, Clifton Park Bowling, and a member of the Christ the King parish, in Guilderland, NY. Most importantly, her sisterhood of eleven, affectionately known as the JUGS, "Just us girls".
Ann is survived by her sons; John J. (Marianne) Cox, and David M. (Loretta) Cox, her brother; Joseph A. (Beverly) Eates, her ten grandchildren; Jessica, Craig, Glenn, Douglas, Caitlin, William, Shannon, Kristen, Vincent, and Joseph, and her three great-grandchildren; Kyle, Oliver, and Finnley.
Ann is predeceased by her mother-in-law, Catherine Cox.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Albany County and Bibi Gildharry for all of their love, care, and compassion during her final months.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 on January 4, 2016 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Guilderland, NY 12203 10:00am. A burial will take place immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy, NY.
At Ann's request donations may be made in Ann's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 in lieu of flowers
