Anna M. Van Dyke, 86, passed away peacefully on, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Anna was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Otto and Caroline Schmidt. Her family moved from Brooklyn to Cairo in the early 1930's until 1997, where she moved to Colonie. She worked for many years in the Cairo-Durham Central School District. In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, George Van Dyke.
Anna is survived by her beloved three sons, William G. (Linda) Van Dyke of Colonie, NY, Pieter W. (Pier) Van Dyke of Monterey, CA and James P. (Joyce) Van Dyke of Menomonee Falls, WI. She is the cherished grandmother of Christopher (Christina) Van Dyke of Wellesley, MA, Sarah (Jared) Larsen of Halfmoon Bay, CA, Gregory (Dana) Van Dyke of Niskayuna, NY and Ian Van Dyke of Monterey, CA. She is also survived by her nine great-grandchildren, Mia, Maggie, Marley, Alexander and Grayson Van Dyke and Taliesin, Shadrach, Kieran and Alric Larsen.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Albany and the entire staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, especially the Guadeloupe Unit for all of the care and compassion given to Anna.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Care Life Center, 2 Mercy Care Lane, Guilderland, NY 122084 or to Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205 in Anna's memory.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
