COLONIE – Anna Pirniak, 92, died peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a short illness.
Born in Tauton, MA on August 4, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Bik) Zubal. Anna was retired from the former Covert Manufacturing Company of Watervliet after 40 years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Watervliet.
Anna enjoyed going to the Seniors Center in Colonie to meet all her friends to play Pokeno. She also enjoyed going on bus trips with her sister Mildred. She was a devoted wife, a loving sister and a beloved aunt and great aunt.
Anna is survived by her sister, Mildred Lebrecht of Albany; her sister-in-law, Ann Zubal of Latham; niece, Jean Ann (Pat) McKeown of Latham; nephews, Richard W. Kendall of Latham, Robert (Reshia) W. Kendall of Fairport, NY and James (Denise) Zubal of Spencerport, NY and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Waka Salisbury.
Anna is predeceased by her husband, John Pirniak, he died in 1973; her sister, Eva Kendall; her brothers, Michael and Anthony Zubal and her niece, Joan Marie Nelson.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Samaritan Hospital and Community Hospice of Rennselaer for their love, care and attention provided to Anna.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Reverend Steven L. Cronn officiating at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at the First Presbyterian Church 819 23rd. St. Watervliet, NY 12189.
