COLONIE – Anne (Battisto) DiBella, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Camillo and Maria Nicola (Ciancio) Battisto. After graduating from high school, Anne was employed at Eastern Tablet where she met her future husband Al (Big Al) DiBella. After raising four sons, Anne went to work at General Accident Insurance Company until she and Al opened DiBella's Restaurant and House of Banquets in Schenectady in 1983, which they operated until their retirement in 1991. Anne was an avid NY Yankees, NY Knicks and tennis fan, but her greatest joy was family dinners with her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a woman of strength, courage and compassion who may have said little, but felt much. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church and a member of the Italian American Community Center. Anne was the beloved wife of the late Albert S. DiBella. She was the devoted mother of Albert J. DiBella of Albany, Michael (Lorri) DiBella of Guilderland, Stephen (Karen) DiBella of Voorheesville and Robert (Marcia) DiBella of Rotterdam. She was the loving sister of Michael (Pat) Battisto, George (Marion) Battisto and the late Joseph Battisto and sister-in-law, Betty Battisto. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Chad, Beth, Nicole, Lisa, Lindsey, John and Manny DiBella, her cousin, Palmy Puopolo of Boston and her long time friend, Esther Jasinski, along with many nieces and nephews. Anne's family would like to thank the caring staff on the 6th floor Hospice Unit of Albany Memorial Hospital for all of their kindness in the past 8 weeks, as well as the wonderful staff at Kingsway Manor Assisted Living. Lastly, they will be eternally grateful to Dr. Frank Fera for all that he did to allow Anne's last days to be lived with dignity and peace.
