ROTTERDAM- Anne Hickok Newton, 86, of Rotterdam, was called home to spend eternity with the Lord on Saturday, December 6th, after a brief illness.
Anne was born on March 11, 1922 in Rotterdam and was the daughter of the late James Hickok, Sr. and Elizabeth Murphy Hickok. Anne graduated from Draper High School was a long life resident of Rotterdam. She worked for the Credit Bureau and Breslaw's Dept. Store in Schenectady. She was a member of the Woodlawn Reformed Church where she was actively involved in the Willoughby Circle, Guilderland Senior Center and served as a volunteer for the City Mission of Schenectady.
Anne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She found pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. Anne, known lovingly, was Mother to everyone, enjoyed cooking and baking and she put her love and special touch into every dinner and pie she ever baked. She was a source of wisdom and encouragement to all who know her. Anne enjoyed traveling with her family and spent many summers at Minerva Lake in the Adirondacks.
Anne is now reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, George A. Newton, who passed away February 15, 2008. Also predeceased by her daughter, Janet in 1980, brother, James M. Hickok, Jr.; nephew, Skip Hickok and niece, Judith Carr.
Anne is survived by her son, James Newton and his wife, Sally of Schenectady; granddaughter, Rebecca Newton Hanford (Lee) of Wilmington, N.C.; brother, Richard Hickok (Roberta) of Schenectady. Nieces and nephews – Patty Weakley, Sue Rulison, Jennene Parillo, Michael Hickok, Richard Hickok, Delores Spencer, Bonnie Leighton, Cheryl Hosnell, Kathleen Ryle, Francis Hickok, Edwin James Hickok, Joseph Hickok, Thomas Hickok, Kevin Hickok, Nancy Corbett, John Culver, Victor Culver plus several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
