On September 14, 2022 Therese Novak, loving mother of 5 children passed away at the age of 97.
Therese was born June 6, 1925 to Helene Therese Gorlin and Louis Abel Champon shortly after they arrived in America from Marseilles, France in 1924. She spent her earliest years in Englewood, NJ with summers at a farm in Willowemoc, NY, socializing with many French immigrant families. "The Farm" was always a place of many fond memories and long term friendships for her.
Therese married George Gent in 1947 and moved to Wyckoff, NJ shortly afterwards, where she raised her 5 children. Therese remained a happy and dedicated housewife, Jack-of-All-Trades and consummate traveler of Vermont back roads. After her children were grown she then worked at various jobs for the town of Wyckoff, NJ.
After her first husband's death, Therese married John Novak in 1984 and shortly afterwards moved to upstate NY to be nearer to her children.
Therese is survived by 4 children from her marriage to George Gent; Michael (Melany) Gent, Maryonne (Tony) Grieco, Brian Gent and Patrick Gent. Therese is also survived by her stepsons from her second marriage to John Novak; Robert (Honey) Novak and Kenneth Novak. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Deceased relatives include George Gent and son Christopher Gent, second husband John Novak and son Johnny Novak, grandson Jesse Thomas Grieco and daughter-in-law Liz Gent.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at North America Martyrs Chapel 100 Blvd. Hudson Falls, NY 12839. Burial will be on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave., Mahwah, NJ all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
