CLIFTON PARK – Anne P. Sabis, 87, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on Monday May 14, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Brooklyn and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Plaktonis.
Anne graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn where she gained her skills as a legal secretary. During WW II, she worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and later worked as a legal secretary. After her children were grown, Anne returned to work at St. John's Law School in Jamaica, NY as an Administrative Assistant. When she retired, she and her husband moved to Clifton Park in 1987.
Anne always placed her family first, raising her three children. She also participated in numerous interests and activities throughout her life. She was a member of the choir at Annunciation Church in Brooklyn, NY, and later, she sang opera. Anne appreciated other fine arts. She and her husband, the late Leonard C. Sabis, regularly attended art museums locally and in New York City. She was a painter herself and studied Chinese Watercolor.
Anne enjoyed sports and outdoor activities, and was very active throughout her life. She, and her late husband, were members of the Saratoga YMCA, where she loved to swim. She enjoyed cross country skiing in Saratoga Park, hiking in the Adirondacks and bicycling in the neighborhood.
Anne was predeceased in 2010 by her beloved husband of 58 years, Leonard C. Sabis. She is the beloved mother of Luke Sabis of Los Angels, CA, Leonard Mark (Veronica) Sabis of Mastic, Long Island and Audrey (Michael) Stulberger of Clifton Park. She is the cherished grandmother of Laura and Claire Stulberger both of Clifton Park.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 8:00 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Clifton Park. Interment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery in Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065 in memory of Anne P. Sabis.
