Annie P. Greenlee, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
She was born in Carrolton, in the great state of Alabama. It was her home town of Carrollton, that she was raised and graciously nurtured in the southern tradition by the late Perry and Annie Laura Cohen. She attended and graduated from the National School of Business in Nashville Tennessee. Because her yearning for knowledge continued, she would later pursue course work at Maria College in Albany, NY. Relocating to Albany she was employed as a secretary at the Albany Memorial Hospital for six years. She later retired from New York State Department of Motor Vehicle, after rendering thirty four years of dedicated service.
Having acknowledged Christ at an early age, her Christian journey led her to attend the Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Albany for a season. Here, she shared in the worship experience and fellowship with her cousins. Soon the Holy Spirit would lead her to unite in membership with the Israel AME Church. This union has proven to be one of warm fellowship, lasting friendship and love. Her Christian growth and stability is evident, as she participates in Bible Study, Prayer Meeting and Sunday School. Annie is a gracious servant leader. With dedication and diligence she has served as President of the Usher Ministry for the past twenty years. Over the years, she has represented the Israel AME family and served in the following areas; Annual Tri-cities Revival; Annual Martin Luther King Memorial Service; HRFMBA usher meetings and programs and the Capital District Area Ushers & Nurses activities. She attends and participates in all the Capital Area Annual Usher Days and whenever called upon she assists at concerts and funerals. She is an exemplary USHER, participating warmly and without hesitation.
Annie is a valued member of the Trustee Ministry, at Israel AME Church. She currently serves as a trustee board member of the Arbor Hill Development Corp. of Albany, NY.
Annie is survived by her brothers A.P. Petty, Tyron Berry and sister Ida Davis, her sons, Mark and Dexter Greenlee and her niece Patricia Ball-Johnson.
Her personal Motto for Ministry comes from the Word of God in Proverbs 3:27... "Do not withhold good from those of whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it"
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
