Anthony "Babe" Cagnina, Jr, 79, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 7, 1935 in Schenectady, he was son of the late Anthony and Susan Cagnina.

Babe worked with his father in the family barbershop for 20 years. He went on to work at General Electric in Schenectady for 26 years as a machine operator: 17 of those years were as a Shop Steward and he served as an executive Board Member for 6 years. Babe was also a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. He was an avid NY Yankee fan, loved his trips to Foxwoods Casino and his new Cadillac's.

Babe is survived by his sons Frank Cagnina, Sr (Mary) of Schenectady and Tony Cagnina (Sharon) of Fultonville; daughter Laura Cagnina of Schenectady; step-sons Charles Harris and Daniel Harris (Nora); step-daughter Holly O'Dell; sisters Jane Macherone and Fay Christensen; grandchildren Steven Majewski, Cory Cagnina (Trisha), Frank Cagnina, Jr (Nina), Kaylie Kramer (Michael), Kane Cagnina and Robert Cagnina; 3 great-grandchildren and his companion Deidre Dix. Babe is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years Gloria Cagnina; brother Joseph Cagnina; sister Julia Pazzano; brother-in-laws Fred Pazzano and Chris Christensen.

A graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 2 P.M. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Schenectady. At Babe's request there will be no calling hours.

The Cagnina family would like to extend a special thanks to the Rotterdam EMS and Police Department for their kindness and professionalism at this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Babe's memory to Community Hospice 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
