VOORHEESVILLE – Anthony T. DeLorenzo, 89, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 14, 2007 At St. Peter's Hospital. He was born on July 13, 1918 At Brady Maternity Hospital in Albany. He married Althea Dorr in 1941. Tony and Althea lived in Voorheesville for the last 64 years. Mr. DeLorenzo worked for the U.S. Army Depot for over 25 years and also opened clams at Picard's Grove for many years. For the past 40 years, he worked for Galesi Group, serving as Assistant to the Chairman of the Board. In his leisure time, Tony enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in stock car racing and rodeos. To his friends he was known as "The Duke" who traveled all over the world. His last day was spent doing what he loved to do – working. He started every morning with a cup of coffee from the Voorheesville Diner. Tony will be sorely missed by his many friends and colleagues. In addition to his beloved wife, Althea, he is survived by his devoted sons: Thomas (Patti) DeLorenzo of New Salem and Robert (Nancy) DeLorenzo of Middle Grove. He is the adored and devoted grandfather of Michael DeLorenzo, Mark (Staci) DeLorenzo, Matthew (Jessica) DeLorenzo, Maria Crounse, Lara DeLorenzo, Dede (Kevin) Koryto, Katie Zyskowski and Trey Zyskowski. He was loved by his great-grandchildren Karly and Brandon DeLorenzo, Izabella DeLorenzo and Travis Crounse. Tony's family would like to give special thanks to the Rotterdam Ambulance Service, St. Peter's Hospital Emergency Room staff, Dr. Grubs and all of Tony's fellow employees for all of their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Salem Volunteer Fire Co., 694 New Salem Rd., Voorheesville, NY 12186 or the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Anthony T. DeLorenzo.
