Anthony "Tony" Restifo, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 19, 2011. Tony was born in Albany to the late Anthony and Antoinette (Anziano) Restifo. Tony graduated in 1962 from Phillip Schyler High School in Albany. After graduation he proudly served with the United States Navy. He recently retired from New York State Department of Higher Education.
Tony was a true family man, many nights he would come home to greet his children with a surprise trip out for dinner or a trip to Hoffman's playland. He loved to watch the Yankees, John Wayne and would never miss a Jeopardy episode. He coached his children's sports teams and attended all of his grandchildren's games. Tony truly loved to spend time with his family.
Tony is survived by his wife and best friend, Donna L. (Miller) Restifo; his beloved children, Deena (Jeffrey) Lestage, Michelle (John) Mendrysa and Anthony (Erica Tenney) Restifo. He is the cherished grandfather of; Courtney, Christian, Abby, Jack, Luke and Noah. He is also survived by his special nephew, Kirk Greenfield, Jr. and his special niece, Janelle Anziano. He is the brother of, Angela (Alfred) Bertrand and sister-in-law of Gayle Anziano.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 8:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie then to Historic St. Mary's on Capital Hill, (corner of Lodge and Pine St.) Albany, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
